History of Turankoy
Turankoy is a quiet settlement on the Marmara Sea coast, part of Erdek district in Balikesir. For generations, locals have lived from fishing, farming, and coastal tourism; in summer, families from cities have brought new life to the village.
Turankoy carries the typical village fabric of the Erdek peninsula — narrow lanes, modest homes, and a close relationship with the sea. In recent years, apart pensions and summer homes have added a new accommodation identity, yet morning fishing boats leaving the harbor and evening shoreline walks remain part of daily life.
Turankoy's history is read not through grand events but through its enduring bond with the sea, solidarity with neighboring villages, and the changing rhythm of summer and winter. That calm pace is still what many guests appreciate most.
